Krishna Mutt

In the early 16th century, a young saint named Madhwacharya arrived in Udupi. He was a great scholar and spiritual leader who dedicated his life to the service of Lord Krishna. he is the one , who established a monastery and a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna.

Madhwacharya emphasized the importance of devotion and service to Lord Krishna as the path to liberation. He taught his followers the principles of Dvaita philosophy, which asserts the duality of God and the individual soul.

However, he was not allowed to enter the temple because of his low social status. This deeply hurt him, but he did not lose faith in his beloved Lord. Lord Krisna turns from East to West due to his devoted singing. This is now known as Kanankana Kindi.

One day, as he was passing by the temple, he heard the divine sound of Lord Krishna’s flute. The sound was so enchanting that he forgot all his worries and started singing in praise of Lord Krishna.Lord Krishna turned from east to west. His soulful voice reached the ears of the Lord, who was pleased with his devotion and appeared before him.
